  • Flowers
    • pale to mid blue,
    • 12-20mm long,
    • nodding bells, solitary or in loosely branched clusters,
    • erect in bud.
  • Leaves
    • Mostly crowded at base of stems
    • stalked, blunt-toothed
    • rounded to kidney-shaped,
    • upper leaves stalk-less, narrow-lance shaped.
  • Variants;
    • C.carnica / Flax-leaved (limestone),
    • C.scheuchzeri,
    • C.rhomboidali,
    • C.uniflora / Artic Bellflower (Heaths & grass 1600m July Scandinavia)
      • shorter
      • small soliarty flowers 5-10mm,
      • basal leaves oval,
      • untoothed.
